IMPORTANT
PROGRAM INFORMATION

- The Program fee
is to be paid the day of the Challenge Presentation. Please send any
paperwork that is require for us to complete in advance of the program
date. Make checks payable to Challenge Leadership Programs. The school
will be invoiced for actual travel expenses.
- The Challenge program
is best presented in a facility outside the regular school building.
A field trip atmosphere away from bells, other students and interruptions
increases the effectiveness of the program. The program is often presented
in a church fellowship hall, banquet facility, community recreation
center, service organization/community meeting room, conference room,
or country club. The room should be large enough to accommodate the
student participants in an activity-type setting and should be approximately
the size of three classrooms.
- Due to the nature
of the program, the number one priority when choosing a room for the
program site is acoustics. A presentation that cannot be heard is going
to be considerably less effective. Therefore, it is imperative that
the facility be acoustically sound. National Guard Armories traditionally
have terrible acoustics. Some gymnasiums are acoustically acceptable
while others are not. It is important that before choosing a site, a
test of the acoustics is made. Additionally, please verify that appropriate
heating and air conditioning is available.
- The tables and
chairs must be setup as requested prior to the program, and a representative
from the school must meet the Challenge presenter at the program site
one hour before students arrive.
- The program has
proven to be most effective with long rectangular tables as opposed
to round tables. Each table should have ten chairs (eight for MS) to
accommodate each of the students. A total of 80+ chairs (64+ for MS)
will be needed for students at each table. Different grade level students
should be assigned to each each table as well as equal representation
of gender and minorities. Social cliques and close friends should be
separated as much as possible. Students do not need to bring any supplies
or materials (backpacks, notebooks, pens ect.) to the program.
- At least one representative
from the school is required to be in attendance throughout the
entire program. We welcome teachers, parents and staff to attend during
the day and encourage you to invite your school superintendent and local
media.
